S4E1 – Under the Skin
Dr Nice is treating the new village vicar, whose symptoms are becoming increasingly baffling following what initially appeared to be a successful operation – and the solution lies buried deep in her past. In his private life, his fragile equilibrium is thrown into disarray: a night spent with co-parent Charlie continues to haunt them both, whilst his ex-girlfriend Janne unceremoniously throws him out of the hotel. Not every wound can be healed so easily.
S4E2 – Uninvited Guests
A seriously ill patient, who is hiding more than he admits, presents Nice with a medical and personal conundrum – for behind the diagnosis lies a story of love and letting go. In his private life, Nice is forced to move in with his arch-enemy, Dr Schmidtke. In the end, father and son find common ground – and Nice continues his search for a flat.
S4E3 – Summer Love
A relaxed ferry trip with Charlie and his daughter Lea turns into an emergency call-out when one of the ferry operators is seriously injured, and her case pushes Nice to his limits. At the same time, he struggles with his inner turmoil, his unresolved relationship with Charlie – and an unusual deal concerning his new houseboat. Sometimes it takes an outsider’s perspective on one’s own heart to finally see things clearly.
S4E4 – Shipwrecked
When the son of a corvette captain collapses whilst celebrating her promotion, his condition turns out to be far more serious than initially thought – forcing a mother to choose between her first major mission and her family. On a personal level, Nice has to fight on several fronts: his strained relationship with his daughter Lea, his return to the hotel, and his own fear of taking the next step with his partner. In the end, both his patient and Nice himself overcome their fears.
S4E5 – Off the Beaten Track
This time, it is not a stranger who challenges Nice, but his favourite arch-enemy, Dr Schmidtke – who, following a fall, suddenly behaves as if he were a different person, and whose condition is becoming increasingly worrying. Nice realises how much this strange man means to him and does everything in his power to save him. At the same time, another important relationship – with Janne – breaks down for good, whilst, of all things, his injured hand offers real hope of recovery for the first time.
S4E6 – The True Face
The closer the operation on his hand gets, the more restless Nice becomes – because a healed hand could mean he’ll have to leave Störkersand and its people behind once more, a truth he has long avoided facing. When Charlie’s brother Frieder suddenly falls seriously ill, Nice puts everything on hold – even his own operation – and, of all people, confides in Schmidtke. At the harbour in Flensburg, he is finally ready to speak his mind – but then disaster strikes.
