Sandra, a single mother, and her two daughters are a great team. Lovingly, Sandra and her older daughter Therese, care for Agnes – the youngest, who is constantly ill.
Soon after a long trip abroad, Sandra’s sister Christiane witnesses her niece Agnes break down in the middle of a school play. Sometime later, when in a hospital, the little girl dies following a cardiac arrest. The doctors are puzzled about the cause of the Agnes? death. The autopsy sheds no further light. The family is traumatized – everyone blames each other. Dr. Blum, the treating physician, even goes so far as to claim that Agnes must have received the wrong medication before she was hospitalized. While Sandra is paralyzed by the situation, Christiane tries to get at the bottom of it all.
When suddenly Therese starts showing the same symptoms, Christiane and the girl’s grandfather begin to realize that this cannot be a coincidence.
