Somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Westphalia, in a small town, where nothing ever really happens, 26-year-old Britta wants nothing more than to leave.

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Westphalia, in a small town, where nothing ever really happens, 26-year-old Britta wants nothing more than to leave. To get away from her brother, who is drowning his self-pity in alcohol, and from her boyfriend, who wants to tie her down with the purchase of a house. She wants to escape from all those people who have forgotten their own hopes and unfulfilled dreams.

Finally, it is ambulance man Knut’s confession of love that gives Britta the final push toward realizing and living her own dreams.
